Gwada postcard project
In the Spring of 2010, I spent over a month in Guadeloupe. It's a department of France, not touristed much by Americans. In France, beaches are public. All the beaches. The water. And the blue. The surprise of how easy it was quietly drained your body of the memory of the urge to escape anything.
oil on canvas
There was a point when my apartment was so full of paintings that I stopped using some of my closets because I was tired of moving the paintings leaning on them off the doors in order to slide them open.
Then I stopped to make room for the ten-year project. It's still home. buildings, bodies, mirrors.

Traveling by default takes you out of your comfort zone. The scenery is a bonus.
